French students create cooking shows using multimedia applications

Mademoiselle Laugier knows how to integrate technology for language acquisition.  Most recently, her students were assigned the task of recording themselves as they cooked a recipe (en francais, mais oui!) and dictated the instructions to their audience.  The results were fantastic!  Here is one example of a great student project:

Digital Jigsaw Activity

Mr. Becker's World Geography classes mixed things up by creating a digital jigsaw. Students filmed questions and answers and then shared their videos with the rest of the class. This is a great way to take an old strategy and make it new again. Check out this example from Abby Johns and Anya Coleman!

CTE Students Design Award Poster

When the Stony Point technology team needed a poster designed to go with the "POINT of I.T. Award," an award that is presented to teachers who demonstrate outstanding technology integration, they knew just where to turn.  Mr. Churchill's and Mr. Hogg's DIM (Digital Interactive Media) classes set out to design a great poster for award recipients to showcase their achievement.  They used Photoshop software, which is the industry standard is graphic design, and their results were above an beyond what anyone could hoped for!  In the end, A. Padilla had the winning design (shown above).  Click here for the complete list of finalists.

Next Generation Library In Action!

Mr. Mccallum in collaboration with our fantastic librarians put the Next Generation Library to great use this week!
SPHS Economics students are learning about the history and function of the Federal Reserve by using the Federal Reserve Museum app. After exploring the app, they are working in groups to create a mind map to illustrate their learning. Finally, they are taking a Kahoot quiz to assess what they have learned. Some students had time to create their own currency in the Federal Reserve app. Students are engaged in communicating, collaborating, thinking critically, and being creative!
